I have watched some movies I have really enjoyed recently and I figured I would share my opinions on them.

I assumed that this movie would be stupid. I mean hot tubs as time machines? What can you do with that? Well, to my surprise A LOT!!!! This movie is hilarious. It is full of awesome 80′s touches (The clothes, the hair, the music!) and is definitely not child friendly so put the babies to bed to watch this one. It really isn’t at all predictable and has a surprising ending! ****

This is a movie about the ‘typical dork’ getting the ‘hot girl’ which believe it or not, happens in real life all the time! Just ask my husband ;) It is actually really cute and has some very cute parts. This movie is very predictable but at the same time one of those movies you want to be predictable. The lead guy actor who’s name escapes me, is really quite funny and has a crazy family (don’t we all) and the dynamic of it all is adorable. ****

This movie is fantastic! I loved this one mainly because I love me some Meryl but also Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are great characters! Alec Baldwin is sleazy in this movie which is exactly how I envision him to be in real life so it wasn’t too much of a stretch for me. It made me laugh and it made me angry and then it made me cry. Love and relationships are all complicated and it’s fun to watch Meryl’s character figure out what her heart really wants. ********

So those are my reviews. All three movies were pleasant surprises and I hope you check them out. Little side note: I will never review scary movies because I will not watch them! I am the biggest baby on earth and get scared so easily it is ridiculous! Light, click flick, comedy with the occasional drama mixed in are my thing so trust my reviews because I am maybe 3 movies away from being a professional movie watcher!! Check them out and tell me what you think!!

Today has been very boring yet enjoyable. The height of the day was going to Walgreens and buying toilet paper and eating my favorite frozen yogurt. It’s Ben and Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie frozen yogurt and it is fantastic! It is rich and delicious and low fat! All my favorite attributes! Well, aside from ice cream, toilet paper and our usual evening stroll, that was about it. Oh, I did do some vacuuming! All in all very uneventful but a lovely day with my girls. Go try this ice cream! You will not regret it :)

Little side note: On that butterfly garden thing, you have to order the larvae and wait 3-7 days for it to come in. We ordered it this morning and Avery is now very impatiently asking when it will be here and decorating their little house with all the furniture they will need. She is so thoughtful! I really hope the larvae aren’t gross because I am not a fan of bugs!!!!

So far today has been pretty interesting! I started my adventures by heading to Barnes and Nobles to buy this Live Butterfly Garden kit that Avery has seen on TV and has been begging for.

So we get to Barnes and Nobles and we find the kit and then head to the children’s section where Hailey loves to run free and see all of her favorite TV character’s in books. They both love it. Well, Avery was turning this rack and about 10 books flew off of it. She was very upset to have made that many books fall and looked like she was about to cry so as I am headed over her to help her clean it up, this Barnes and Nobles worker says “Oh come on!” in a very aggravated voice. I could not believe it! First of all, Avery is very respectful of books and other peoples things. Second of all, you work in a book store! Isn’t your job to put books up? And if you have such an attitude about kids accidentally spilling books, Why the heck do you work in the kids section?! I of course was going to make sure all the books were put back properly but I was so offended that this woman had that attitude. I almost went and said something but I was too angry to sound like a rational human being so I let it go. I am a member and have a membership card! I shop at Barnes and Nobles all the time!! I just felt like that woman was so rude. Oh well, we still had fun and bought our Butterfly Garden and life goes on.

After the “incident” at Barnes and Nobles, we headed to our grocery store to get Seventh Generation diapers and as we were about to check out, all the registers quit working. I’m not sure of the reasoning but things like that are a very scary reminder of how fragile our world is because of computers. All these people kept lining up and waiting and most people kept their cool which is good because some people go nuts if the lines go too slow. Ever been behind “That person” that is breathing all deep and looking around and getting impatient because the loaf of bread you are buying is taking too long and screwing up his ever important time schedule? Settle down people! Its groceries and unless you are buying all ice cream then relax!! Well, the employees there were nice enough to hand out cookies and water to everyone which obviously worked because it is a proven fact that cookies make everything better!! The people were happy, my girls were happy and I was happy to get home before it started to rain! It has been one of those days! Crazy yet always interesting!

The weekend is coming to a close and even though I am a stay at home mom, I always have a relaxing Sunday in preparation for the week ahead. I read the book Uncharted Territori and liked it a lot! Other than that there wasn’t to much excitement and sometimes that makes for the best time. My husband made bbq chicken which was awesome and I am going into the coming week tired but prepared to take on what it has to offer. This could be a potentially huge week if my niece that was born at 28 weeks gets to come home! I know my brother and sister in law are probably exhausted and emotionally drained from all the highs and lows of the past couple of months with her and now it’s all about to come to a close with a very happy ending. I can’t wait to meet her. The evening looks like it might involve television to the maximum and my usual evening walk with the girls. I do enjoy those walks even though I force myself to go every night. I never regret it when we get home. I’m a little sweaty and Avery is wet from running through all the sprinklers that are on along the way but we both feel good from our exercise. Hailey always looks forward to me picking her a flower at this certain spot in the walk and she holds it in her hand until we get home and put it in a little cup of water. She always is desperate for a drink even though she never actually takes one step on the walk! She is in the stroller that in the upper body part of my little low impact workout! I love my kids! They are my workout buddies and also the workout!! Have a great night!! :)

Saturday sure has lost its appeal. It used to be a day you slept in and then did something fabulous in the evening. Maybe ran a few errands during the day but pretty much your day was spent planning your evening. How things change. I now wake up at 8:30am and that’s is usually after staying up too late on Friday night because I am still genetically coded to believe that is a stay up late night. I roll out of bed, make some breakfast for the kids, turn on cartoons and spend the day asking my husband, ‘what do you want to do today?’ and have him say, ‘I don’t know what do you want to do?’. Needless to say, on those days we do nothing. Occasionally we have plans with our friends who also have kids and we just have them come over kids and all. That’s the best way to be social when you become a parent. Always incorporate the kids! That way there is no ‘my babysitter canceled at the last moment’ stress. So the new Saturday night became movie night or a night at home with friends while your children play and that’s ok with me! My kids are fun and I like movies and love popcorn so it works out well. So technically I do still get to sleep in (about 1/2 an hour), I do spend the day doing laundry and cleaning (errands) and then I spend my day planning something fabulous for the evening (being with my family). I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same!!

Ok, time to fess up. I am a secret Tori Spelling fan. Not a fan of her acting but of her books and reality show!! All day I have been obsessing over her new book and I think I might pack up the kids and go buy that guilty little pleasure! I read and own her first two books which are surprisingly really good. I think her and Dean are a great couple and they have absolutely adorable kids. I have a ton more guilty little pleasures but I am not willing to divulge how many! For now I will admit to Tori Spelling but again not her acting! I hated her on 90210 and her lifetime movies are not exactly Oscar worthy but her as a person and her family dynamic are entertaining! So, if you are into guilty pleasures check out her show and her books!!

My day consists of a lot of cartoons. My kids have a few favorites that I want to mention because they are actually really cute. Hailey (18 months) LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba and when I say love I mean is obsessed with! It holds her attention and a bomb could go off next to her and she wouldn’t look away from her beloved characters. At first I thought the show was weird. I mean this guy wearing an orange leotard and a fuzzy hat carries his “friends” in his cassette player briefcase and then takes them out of it and they come to life. Ok, I get that kids won’t think to question that so moving on. Next these characters sing songs about sharing and caring and being polite and how to be a good friend and save the environment. They may be odd but they deliver the best message on TV. Spongebob is not what I would call educational and neither are quite a few other shows that are on Nickelodeon. If your child is watching a show with a weird guy in orange with monster looking animal hybrids singing and dancing about the morals of life, have no fear! It is a good thing!!

My oldest Avery loves her some iCarly. It may be a little advanced for a 5 and 3/4 year old girl but she and I love it. We just crack up every time we watch it! The dynamic of the kids and the older brother is just fantastic. A + on the casting. Again, nothing about the show is normal and these kids basically have no parents and a lot of expensive stuff. No one seems to work and yet one of the kids owed her friends $500.00 in one episode. I never had $500.00 to loan at the age of 12 or 14! I barely had .05 to loan. I guess the web show industry pays well. Either way, it is a really cute show and for all those moms who watch what their kids are watching, check this one out. You might actually become a fan too!!

I wanted to write a blog about these diapers for a couple of reasons. They are good for the environment and are very high quality! I was at my local grocery store and there were in-store coupons hanging in front of them for $1.00 off which made them the same price as the Huggies I have religiously purchased for both of my girls tushes. I figured why not? Same price and good for the environment sounded good to me! I got them home and was about to change my daughters diaper when I was kind of shocked at their appearance. I was used to the white diapers with Winnie the pooh in some nature scene and these diapers were brown. The same color as brown eggs brown. They looked odd compared to what I was used to but as it turned out, they are extremely high quality. I am so thrilled with these diapers I can’t even properly express my happiness without sounding a little crazy for getting so happy about diapers. Hailey spent one evening in her little baby pool and she had one of those diapers on and that thing absorbed like a champ. I found that the Huggies had what I call a gel like substance come out of them when they reached maximum capacity but not these ones! They didn’t have any weird gel! There are so many reasons why these are hands down the best diaper I have ever purchased and would also encourage everyone else too. They are good for the environment but at the same time I feel they are better for my baby being there is no chlorine. The less chemicals around my babies little bum the better!! Try them, you might like them too!!

I have an inner conflict about putting pictures of my girls on my blog. I see that pretty much every other mom does and I’m not too sure what exactly I am worried about.I am going to take a chance and post pictures. Specifically pictures from today when I had the most awkward play date ever.

A couple of weeks ago I met the father of a little Girl that was in Avery’s pre-k class and we exchanged numbers in the hopes that we could keep their pre-k relationship alive. He called today and I agreed to meet him at the mall at the indoor play area. Its too hot here for our kids to play outside. It is borderline child abuse just making them walk to the car! Anyway, we went to the germ fest wonderland and met up with the other parent and his daughter. I spent my time with Hailey who spends most of her days in the living room and this was the biggest adventure of her life! She was so happy to touch every disease filled crack of this play area. I tried my best not to be totally neurotic and I think I hid my anxiety well. What got me through was the image of bathing my kids in hand sanitizer! Not really but a mom can dream. I felt so rude because I was chasing Hailey around and not speaking to this other parent but if I took my eyes off Hailey she would have been trampled! The sign says “6 and below” people!!!! I think I saw one kid with facial hair!! The point is, I think I was rude. I am not a play date expert by any means but I know my lack of chitchat was rude. He basically babysat Avery while I took care of Hailey. Not the day he imagined I’m sure. I will have to make it up to him should I ever get invited to another play date again! I’m sure he deleted my number and wrote me off as cold and unwilling to watch my child who spent the time running around like a crazy person. I suppose a play date in a little less out of control location like a McDonalds might go a little better. Oh well. You win some and you lose some and I lost this one but I win because my kids are both exhausted and asleep early!!! Makes it all worth it :)

Since yesterday was the Summer Solstice, I want to touch on a topic very near to my heart. Recycling. For months I noticed that we seemed to have an outrageous amount of trash. Like 5 or 6 bags twice a week and finally after a commercial on Nickelodeon about “The Big Help” (Google it!) I decided enough was enough and I was going to start recycling. After I made my choice, I realized how difficult it would be. Where I live is in no way shape or form recycling friendly unless it’s paper. I have to drive to a recycling facility at least once a week and it is about 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back. It is worth the sacrifice of all the driving and rummaging through the trash because my kids might forget to put something on the counter for mommy to clean and then put in the correct bin. I’m happy to say through not all that much effort, we are down to one bag twice a week and I feel great about it. There is not much an average Joe like me can do to help the environment. All I can do is my part and then tell people about it. So please, recycle!!

A little fact I learned from “The Big Help”(Seriously, Google it!!): Recycling just one soda can saves enough energy to run your television for 3 hours!
